Father’s Work to Blame for Woman’s Mesothelioma

by Administrator 30. November 1999 02:11
A woman in Galveston, TX, has filed a lawsuit against Marathon Petroleum Company and several other businesses in Galveston after claiming that her father's work with asbestos products is to blame for her development of mesothelioma. Cynthia Leigh Chason was exposed to asbestos over a long period of time when her father's work clothes carried home asbestos fibers. The lawsuit states that Ms. Chason was "exposed to large quantities of asbestos from the products and/or machinery manufactured, sold, designed, supplied, distributed, mined, milled, relabeled, resold, procesed, applied, or installed" by the named defendants. The suit also argues that the defendants knowingly allowed employees to be exposed to the dangerous asbestos materials. This act of negligence, according to the suit, is to blame for Ms. Chaso

President of Asbestos Removal School Indicted

by Administrator 30. November 1999 02:11

A cottage industry has come together in recent years in reaction to the urgent need to remove asbestos from buildings and anywhere else where people could be exposed to it.  However, according to a Massachusetts newspaper article that was published recently, not every asbestos removal school, the industry in question, is on the up-and-up.  In fact, the president of one of these schools was recently indicted for providing completion certificates to students who never completed the training.

“The president of a Methuen asbestos training school, where several illegal immigrants from New Bedford received certificates to become asbestos workers and supervisors, was indicted in U.S. District Court on charges of issuing diplomas to people who never completed the course.

According to a federal affidavit, Environmental Compliance Testing routinely issued asbestos certificates to people who did not attend required training courses or pass the test. Albania Deleon, president of ECT, arranged for them to receive fraudulent certificates in exchange for $400, the affidavit said. The regular cost of the course and exams was $350.”

There’s no other way to describe this situation besides despicable.  If you have been injured as a result of asbestos exposure, you need to contact Williams Kherkher’s mesothelioma attorneys for a free consultation.  You can do so by calling toll-free (866) 950-9000.
