Miners Exposed to Asbestos in Minnesota

Posted on September 19th, 2007 No Comments

If it is known or even suspected that a worker may be exposed to asbestos, it should be dealt with immediately.  There are many issues that breathing in asbestos can cause including the rare form of cancer called mesothelioma.  There are cases pending still today where workers were and still are being exposed to asbestos.  Such is the case with some miners in Minnesota.  The Minnesota Department of Health publicly announced information surrounding 35 miners who deaths were  mesothelioma-related.  There is criticism against the Minnesota Department of Health because there was a delay in announcing that the death of these 35 miners was caused by exposure to asbestos.  This delay has caused concern since it has caused a setback for investigating the work environment of these miners.  The research could be essential to understanding how an asbestos environment affects a worker.

Being exposed to asbestos could cause numerous issues besides mesothelioma.  If you are a miner or worked in an environment where you were exposed to asbestos, you need to know what your legal rights are.  Contact an attorney that understands asbestos-related illness.  An asbestos attorney from Williams Kherkher will sit with you for a free consultation.  Call (866) 950-9000 to schedule an appointment today.
