The estate of an Illinois man who died from mesothelioma has filed a lawsuit against Maytag and Whirlpool, claiming that the asbestos present in their products is the cause of the man’s death. Whirlpool and Maytag have requested that the case be dismissed.
Maytag and Whirlpool claim that the plantiff’s inability to identify the products that the man was exposed to, the dates of the supposed exposure, as well as the location of the exposure, signal a lack of sufficent evidence to warrant a lawsuit.
The estate of Wilfred Korando state that he was employed from 1954 to 2004 as a washer and dryer maintenance man, a commercial window installer, and a mechanic. It was during this time that he came in contact with Maytag and Whirlpool’s asbestos-filled products.
Maytag and Whirlpool are among many other defendants, including Boeing, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, General Electric, General Motors, Goodyear, MetLife, and Rolls-Royce, just to name a few.
