Illinois Man Files Asbestos Exposure Lawsuit

Posted on December 8th, 2008 No Comments

On October 30, 2008, Donald A Doberstein filed an asbestos suit against 39 defendant corporations in Madison County
Circuit Court in Illinois,
stating that he had contracted

mesothelioma
, a disease that was wrongfully caused.
Donald was diagnosed with mesothelioma in July. The suit claims that Donald’s
disease was caused by asbestos exposure at work. Donald worked as a
labourer in the American Can plant in 1952, as an operator at the Cutler Hammer Plant
in 1953, and as an operator at the Allen Bradley plant from 1954 to 1974.

The
suit claims that Donald's mesothelioma was caused by exposure to a number of
toxins, including asbestos, silica, diesel, solvent, and gasoline fumes, during
the course of his work. His disease was caused after he was exposed to and
inhaled, ingested, or otherwise absorbed asbestos fibers. The suit claims the
asbestos exposure could have been prevented. In a 9 count suit, Doberstein seeks
sums in excess of $100,000, punitive and exemplary damages in excess of
$100,000, economic damages in excess of $150,000 and compensatory damages in
excess of $100,000.
