The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization, or ADAO, recently reiterated warnings to the general public about asbestos in popular children's toys.
In 2007, the ADAO, a California-based non-profit organization, identified several widely-distributed toys that contained potentially hazardous levels of asbestos. Of most concern – the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Fingerprint Examination Kit. Scientific analysis indicated that the fingerprint dusting powder in the kit contained tremolite asbestos, a particularly harmful form of the mineral fiber. Furthermore, because the asbestos was contained within a powdery substance, inhalation was much more likely.
Other children's toys/products in which asbestos was found included the Art Skills' Clay Bucket, Ja-Ru Toy Clay, and certain talc-based baby powders.
