The 4 sons
of Gliese Bergeron have filed an asbestos suit
on December 22, in Jefferson County District Court for wrongful
death. The suit is filed against Chevron
and Gulf Oil. The suit filed by the 4 sons, Kyle, Dan, Ted and Mark Bergeron
state that their father died from mesothelioma, a disease that was wrongfully
caused by exposure to asbestos.
Gliese died from the disease on October 31, 2008. In 1942 and between
1946 and 1983, Gliese was employed by Chevron and Gulf Oil, where he worked as a
pipe fitter, operator, truck driver, insulator and maintenance planner. It was
here that he was exposed to asbestos, which ultimately resulted in him contracting
the cancer. The suit claims that the disease was caused as Glise was exposed to
a number of toxins, including asbestos, silica, diesel, solvent, and gasoline
fumes. During the course of his work, he inhaled, ingested or otherwise
absorbed asbestos fibers.
The lawsuit seeks undisclosed sums as economic damages,
compensatory damages and punitive damages.
