A new tool in mesothelioma detection was unveiled at the conference of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization. The new tool is a radiological technique that was developed by Dr Carmen Endress. Both Dr Endress and Dr Michael Harbut, who unveiled the technique at the conference, work at the National Center for Vermiculite and Asbestos Related Cancers.
The new technique allows radiologists to visualize asbestos lesions in 3D long before what was previously possible. The process involves taking a high resolution CT scan and enchancing the images with special software. This new technique will have a great deal of benefit in the mesothelioma community by aiding in early diagnosis, as well as better understanding mesothelioma and other asbestos related cancers.
