The government prosecution in the Libby, Montana, WR Grace Trial expects to rest its case early next week. The trial in Missoula, MT has charged WR Grace and five former executives with criminal environmental negligence. The case against the company asserts that they knowingly exposed workers and the entire town of Libby to asbestos while in full knowledge of the dangers involved.
The prosecution will not have a previously scheduled key expert witness take the stand. They say that this will significantly reduce the time that the rest of their case will take. Because of this, the prosecution is expected to rest by Tuesday of next week. The defense will then have an opportunity to begin its case and call witnesses for the defendants.
