The Washoe County School District in Nevada has 50 schools that are undergoing renovations to include asbestos abatement. Five of those schools are receiving renovations to a much higher degree than the rest. Those are the five schools that are either the oldest or need the biggest boost to student achievement.
Among the renovations for most of the schools is asbestos abatement. This will remove the hazardous material from all the schools, avoiding dangers that could come up in the future concerning asbestos exposure. This exposure can lead to the development of mesothelioma as well as other forms of cancer, including ovarian cancer.
