In Australia, a court has ruled in favor of Ford Motor Company in an asbestos case. The victim in the case was exposed to asbestos while working for Ford in the 1970s and 1980s. In April, the man passed away from a disease related to that asbestos exposure. For this, his family was awarded $840,000 in damages. However, the court has ruled differently.
In accordance with the court's ruling, Ford will only have to pay between 50% and 65% of the awarded damages to the family. While this is still a win for the family, it means that the Ford Motor Company was only liable for approximately half of the asbestos exposure that injured and eventually killed the worker in question.
