Brothers Arthur and Shaun Amaral have been indicted by a Massachusetts grand jury on charges of failure to file notice of asbestos abatement, knowingly demolishing buildings with asbestos, failing to adhere to safety procedures and disposing of asbestos in an unsafe manner and in an unauthorized location.
The older of the two brothers owns Northeast Demolition and Removal which has completed several demolition projects that included asbestos material abatement. They had workers perform the projects without proper protection, then stored the asbestos materials in drums and placed them in a storage facility. The brothers now face a year in jail and a $25,000 for each of the five charges against them.
