Court Rules in Favor of Mesothelioma Victim’s Family

On June 10, a trial began on behalf of Richard Worthley, Sr in San Francisco Superior Court. Worthley's family sued Advocate Mines Limited for negligence and product liability because the mine exposed him to asbestos. The jury reached a decision on Wednesday, July 22, after just over a month of trial.

Worthley worked at the mine from May 1968 until November 1984. As a result of his work, he was exposed to asbestos leading him to develop mesothelioma and eventually killing him. The jury awarded the family $877,750 in economic damages and another $2.5 million in non economic damages.
