The historic Prendergast Library in Jamestown, New York is about to be shut down for approximately three months. The building is undergoing renovations that will require asbestos abatement. The library has given the project to Stohl Environment for a total of about $800,000, and amount the library raised through grants and funds secured by state level officials.
Among the renovations for the building are: replacing the balasts that support light fixtures, installing new electrical wiring and cable in the floor, and installing new seating and tables.There is asbestos present in the ceiling and floor that must be taken care of before any of the renovations can occur.
