Researchers in Sweden have been looking at sodium selenite and how it interacts with mesothelioma cancer cells. The antioxidant has been shown to kill mesothelioma cells in cultures in previous studies. Now researchers are trying to figure out both how and why the process works.

Results from previous studies have been posted in the Journal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research. Selenite could be used against mesothelioma in the future if the researchers can figure out how it interacts with mesothelioma cancer cells and why it doesn't affect healthy cells.
