A California man is being charged with operating an asbestos training scam, in which he allegedly lied about how much training people taking his course were actually receiving. He claimed that training was conducted eight hours a day, while in reality classes were lasting as little as 25 minutes. In California, asbestos removal workers must have completed a four-day, eight-hours-a-day training course, with at least 14 hours of hands-on training.
In addition to lying about how many hours of training the students were receiving, the man also gave the students the answers to the test at the end of the course, and took the test for a student who didn't show up that day.
