A painter from Dallas, Texas who developed mesothelioma from asbestos exposure recently won a lawsuit against Union Carbide Corporation and other product manufacturers for mining and manufacturing harmful products.
The man was awarded a substantial sum by the jury for the development of mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is primarily caused by exposure to asbestos. The painter was exposed to asbestos during his career when he came in contact with drywall compounds fillers, block fillers and texturing paints. Many of these products were banned in 1978 for being harmful to people's health.
