Woman files suit against 65 companies for asbestos-related death

by Administrator 27. May 2010 16:55
A West Virginia woman filed a mesothelioma suit this week naming 65 companies as responsible for the death of her brother.

The suit alleges that the woman's brother’s death was caused by working with asbestos-laden products that were made or used by the defendant companies. Her brother was diagnosed with mesothelioma on February 22 and died on March 5. He was an Amco Steel worker from 1965 to 1986.

Mesothelioma is primarly caused by exposure to asbestos. The rare and aggressive form of cancer can lay dormant for half a century before it manifests. The cancer takes over 3,000 American lives per year.

Florida man awarded $14 million in mesothelioma suit

by Administrator 24. May 2010 12:47

A 59-year-old man has recently been awarded $14 million in a suit claiming that he contracted mesothelioma from being exposed to asbestos.

A jury found that a chemical manufacturing company, Union Carbide, was negligent in the case for selling asbetos fibers to other companies. The 57-year-old man was exposed to this asbestos when working for a family construction company during the 1970s. The dangerous mineral asbestos was used in over 3,000 building projects during this time.

Asbestos exposure occurs when asbestos is disturbed, allowing asbestos fibers to be inhaled or ingested. The fibers then lodge themselves in the lungs and can cause mesothelioma or other asbestos-related diseases.

Couple files asbestos suits in two counties

by Administrator 14. May 2010 14:13

A couple that filed an asbestos suit in St. Clair County Court has filed another asbestos-related suit six days later in Madison County.

The couple filed a suit against 59 defendant corporations in late April and then similar suit on May 3 in a different county. In both of the complaints, the couple claims that the husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma after his exposure to asbesots-containing products during his career as an insulator at various job sites from 1953 to 1989.

The couple is claiming that the defendants should have known about the harmful health issues caused by asbestos and should have exercised reasonable care and caution to their employees.

Family of Navy Veteran files asbestos suit

by Administrator 30. April 2010 15:22

The family of a Navy Veteran filed a mesothellioma suit in March 2009 claiming the death of their family member of malignant mesothelioma was a result of his service in the Navy.

The man had worked as Petty Officer in  the Navy and served on various vessels throughout his career. He served on the U.S.S Newport news for the longest amount of time, which like other ships in the fleet, used asbestos in almost ever compartment from the 1940s to the 1980s.

Asbestos exposure is the primary cause of developing the rare and aggressive lung cancer, mesothelioma. A jury in Virginia awarded the former veteran's family $6 million as a result of the suit.

Judge awards man $3 million in Asbestos suit

by Administrator 22. March 2010 17:09

A man and his wife have been awarded $3 million for an asbestos injury suit.

The suit was filed against Union Carbide and other defendants for the development of a rare form of cancer, mesothelioma. The man worked at the Union Carbide plant in Brownsville, Texas in the 1970s where he and his wife claimed he was exposed to asbestos. Exposure to asbestos is the only known cause of mesothelioma and the delayed latency period usually means that the cancer is very advanced when it is found. The lawsuit alleged that the workers at the plant were not properly protected from the asbestos and were not informed the potential health hazard.

If you or someone you love has developed mesothelioma from being exposed to asbestos, contact the mesothelioma lawyers Williams Kherkher by calling 800-781-3955.
