Asbestos was found at a Wisconsin high school recently. Case High School in Mount Pleasant was undergoing maintenance construction when the asbestos was found. It has since been removed and the school has been deemed safe for students, staff and the general public. However, it has caused delays in other projects.
When asbestos is found, it must be dealt with before any other construction can occur. If it is not abated, the asbestos can become friable and people can be exposed, leading to diseases like mesothelioma. This is what led to delays at Case High School. Fortunately, the asbestos is now gone, and students will be safe when the school year begins.
