Fines Considered for Developer after Alleged Asbestos Removal Violations

by Administrator 11. March 2008 16:03
A company owned by developer Bob Knapp may face heavy fines due to allegations that it violated asbestos safety procedures during its renovation of the Equitable Building in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. The Iowa DNR said that it believed the company failed to follow established safety guidelines, which may have exposed thousands of people to dangerous levels of asbestos in 2006-2007. The DNR is asking the Environmental Protection Commission to refer the case to the state attorney general's office. Asbestos is a highly dangerous substance which can cause lung cancer and mesothelioma, an incurable cancer of the mesothelial lining of the lungs and abdominal cavity. If you or someone you love has developed mesothelioma as a result of asbestos exposure, call a mesothelioma lawyer from Williams Kherkher at 866-950-9000 to explore your legal options.
